Both polyimide tape (gold finger tape) and ordinary high-temperature tape (silicone tape, glass cloth tape) belong to high-temperature protective materials, but there are significant differences in substrate characteristics, temperature resistance, insulation level, application scenarios and other aspects. By comparing the key performance parameters of two core products of LVZHIMEI, this paper deeply analyzes their respective advantages and limitations, and provides scientific selection logic combined with the needs of electronic manufacturing, industrial coating, motor manufacturing and other scenarios, helping users accurately match needs and avoid cost waste and quality risks caused by over-selection or insufficient performance.
In terms of core performance parameters, there are significant differences between the two: in terms of temperature resistance, LVZHIMEI polyimide tape can withstand 300℃ for a short time (within 10 seconds) and 250℃ for a long time, and can withstand extreme high-temperature impact; silicone high-temperature tape can withstand 280℃ for a short time and 260℃ for a long time, with better low-temperature resistance (-50℃ to 260℃); glass cloth high-temperature tape can withstand 280℃ for a short time and 180℃ for a long time, with more prominent tensile strength (≥150N/10mm). In terms of insulation performance, the breakdown voltage of polyimide tape is ≥30kV/mm, and the insulation resistance is ≥10¹⁴Ω, far exceeding that of silicone tape (breakdown voltage ≥25kV/mm) and glass cloth tape (breakdown voltage ≥20kV/mm), making it suitable for high insulation demand scenarios. In terms of residual adhesive control, polyimide tape has no residual adhesive after peeling, while silicone tape and glass cloth tape may have slight residual adhesive after long-term high-temperature baking, which needs targeted treatment.
In terms of scenario adaptation, polyimide tape, with excellent comprehensive performance, is suitable for high-end scenarios such as electronic manufacturing, precision instruments and lithium batteries, such as PCB gold finger protection, SMT process high-temperature fixing, lithium battery cell insulation wrapping, etc., especially for scenarios with high requirements for residual adhesive, insulation and dimensional accuracy. Silicone high-temperature tape has excellent flexibility and outstanding low-temperature resistance, suitable for motor coil insulation wrapping, curved surface bonding, low-temperature and high-temperature alternating scenarios, such as Class H motor coil wrapping, refrigeration equipment component fixing, etc. Glass cloth high-temperature tape has high tensile strength and strong solvent resistance, suitable for metal coating shielding, sandblasting protection, high-temperature pipeline winding and other scenarios, such as high-temperature painting shielding of auto parts, sandblasting treatment of hardware parts, etc.
In terms of cost performance, due to the high cost of substrate and process, the price of polyimide tape is 2-3 times that of ordinary high-temperature tape, suitable for high-end scenarios with strict performance requirements; silicone tape and glass cloth tape are affordable with high cost performance, which can meet conventional high-temperature protection needs. When selecting products, users need to comprehensively judge according to temperature resistance requirements, insulation level, scenario characteristics and cost budget: polyimide tape is preferred for high-end electronic scenarios, silicone or glass cloth tape for conventional high-temperature protection scenarios, glass cloth tape for metal coating scenarios, and silicone tape for low-temperature and high-temperature alternating scenarios. LVZHIMEI can provide professional selection guidance and sample testing services to help users achieve the best balance between performance and cost.
