Kapton Tape (Polyimide/PI): The "Zero-Failure" standard for electronics. Based on a polyimide film, it has no melting point and maintains structural integrity in extreme heat. It’s the industry standard for PCB soldering
and high-voltage insulation.
PTFE Tape (Teflon): The champion of non-stick and chemical inertness. Derived from polytetrafluoroethylene, it offers unparalleled resistance to acids, alkalis, and solvents. Its slippery surface is ideal for heat sealing and release applications.
PET Tape (Polyester): The cost-effective industrial workhorse. Made from polyethylene terephthalate, it offers excellent tensile strength and dimensional stability for mechanical masking, but its thermal ceiling is significantly lower.

PCB Soldering & Gold Finger Protection: You need to survive reflow soldering peaks (260°C+) without melting or leaving residue.
High-Voltage Insulation: You require H-Class dielectric strength in tight spaces.
Aerospace/Automotive: You need low outgassing and long-term thermal stability.
3D Printing: You are printing with ABS, Nylon, or PC filaments requiring bed temps >100°C.
Heat Sealing: You need a non-stick surface for packaging or plastic welding.
Chemical Bath Masking: The part will be submerged in aggressive acids or plating solutions.
Release Liners: You need to prevent adhesives or resins from sticking during curing.
Powder Coating & Painting: You need sharp paint lines and high tensile strength for easy removal.
General Bundling: Cables or wires in environments below 150°C.
Cost-Sensitive Masking: The application doesn't involve direct soldering or extreme heat.
"Is the adhesive Silicone?" For temps >200°C, acrylic adhesives will carbonize. You must use silicone adhesive.
"What is the Clean Removal rating?" Ensure the tape is rated for clean removal after the heat cycle. Kapton should peel off without residue at 260°C.
"Is it UL 510 Certified?" For electrical applications, flame retardancy is non-negotiable.
